Android App Launch Checklist for 2026 (Pre-Launch to Production)

Launching an Android app in 2026 involves more compliance steps than ever. Use this checklist to make sure nothing is missed before you hit "Publish".

Pre-launch (week 1)

• Create developer account and verify identity (D-U-N-S for org accounts)
• Set up internal testing track for QA
• Generate app signing key and back it up
• Write a real privacy policy and host on HTTPS

Closed testing (week 2–4)

• Recruit 12+ real testers (see our 12 testers guide)
• Run pre-launch report and fix all crashes
• Track 14-day continuous opt-in window

Store listing

• App icon (512×512), feature graphic (1024×500)
• At least 2 phone screenshots, ideally 8
• Short description (80 chars) + long description (4000 chars)
• Complete Data Safety form
• Set content rating via IARC questionnaire

Production rollout

• Apply for production access after 14-day closed test
• Start with staged rollout (20% → 50% → 100%)
• Monitor crash-free users in Vitals dashboard
