7 Common Play Console Closed Testing Mistakes (and How to Fix Them)
Avoid the most common reasons Google rejects closed testing submissions. Real fixes from developers who passed.
If your closed testing submission was rejected, you're not alone. Here are the 7 most common mistakes we see in the AppTestSathi community — and exactly how to fix each one.
1. Less than 12 active testers
Google checks active testers daily. Always keep 14–15 testers enrolled to absorb dropouts.
2. Testers installed via APK sideload
Only Play Store installs count. Ask testers to use the opt-in URL.
3. App crashes on launch
Run pre-launch reports in Play Console and fix every ANR before going live.
4. Missing data safety form
The Data Safety section must be 100% complete and match your privacy policy.
5. Misleading screenshots or store listing
Screenshots must reflect actual app functionality. No marketing-only mockups.
6. Privacy policy URL not reachable
Your privacy policy must load on a public HTTPS URL — not a Google Doc.
7. Skipping the 14-day window
You can't apply for production access on day 10 or 13. Wait the full 14 days.
